Welcome! The African Energy Modelling Network Forum is a collaborative space dedicated to knowledge exchange, problem-solving, and fostering innovation in energy and power system modelling across Africa. To ensure productive and respectful interactions, please familiarise yourself with the guidelines below.
Forum Registration
To maintain quality and relevance, all registrations require approval by a forum administrator:
Initial Registration: After completing your registration, you’ll immediately receive an automated email confirming that your account is pending approval.
Manual Approval: A forum administrator will review your registration. Once approved, you’ll receive a second email notifying you that you can now log in and fully participate.
Please allow up to 48 hours for registration approval.
How to post and reply
Creating a new topic is easy once you have logged in. Just press the orange “+New topic” button in the top right corner, write the title and content in their respective fields, and click the “Submit” button at the bottom.
To respond to an existing topic, there are two ways. The first is to use the +Reply button on the top or bottom of any topic page. This type of response to a topic will always open at the bottom of all replies.
So, how do you respond to a specific reply?
The answer, and the second way you can reply, is to use the “Quote feature. In every reply to a topic, on the upper right side of the reply is a link to “Quote. Scroll to the reply you want to respond to and then click “Quote.
The system will then copy the reply in its entirety and then automatically place that in a reply on the bottom. You can also edit the quote. Never, ever add something the original author did not say – this is unprofessional and a bad practice! However, you don’t have to worry about shortening or removing as this etiquette is common and understood to just focus your reply on a specific part of what the author said.
You can then respond under the quotation.
The @mention feature allows you to reference other users in the forum. You can mention as many users as you would like. Each person who is referenced will receive an email with the link to the topic in question.
When you want to get notifications about anything happening (i.e. a new topic or reply) in a forum you want use the Subscribe To Forum feature.
When someone has created or replied to a topic that you are interested in getting notifications and staying abreast or current, you want to use the Subscribe To Topic feature.
It’s possible to tag topics with relevant keywords by using hashtags. The tags will get automatically created everytime a #hashtag is used. Be aware that the tag consists of a single string, with no spaces, so if you need to create a tag that has several words, use hyphens between each word to ensure proper tag creation. Each tag becomes a link to all topics containing that tag. You can also search for tags in the search box.
